Question about SNES-Game Auction
Hi,
what do you think about this auction of a Seiken Densetsu 3 cartridge:
Link
Unfortunately it is in German, but what is fishy to me is that the seller claims that it is original, but also a PAL version (does such a thing even exist?) and also I believe the sticker on the cartridge is fake as it says Secret Of Mana 2 while it should say Seiken Densetsu 3? Can anyone point me to pics of a real one so I can compare?

I'm offering the one-time chance, the sought-after role-playing game for SNES.
"Secret of Mana 2
Pal version
with game guide (128 pages)"
This is one of the rarest role-playing games ever, since it has been published only in Japan and never got published in Germany.
The game is playable without adaptor and without modded SNES.
This auction includes
- game Secret of Mana 2 PAL
- OVP [means original wrapping/packaging]
- manual, game guide (128 pages)
and there's also a listing of the transformations of the characters and their weapons and equipment.
(46 pages)

sd3 was released in japan only.
there is a german translation of the game with a "secret of mana 2" title screen for download.
he took the japanese cart, modded it with a custom chip to hold the german translation, then printed a label and slapped it on. the box and guide book are the original japanese extras that came with the japanese game.
do not question me, my previous statements are 100% fact.

Oh, I thought it was assumed from the beginning that SD3 being a jap only release was extremely common knowledge. Guess I'm getting old.
Still, I'd buy it, if the game were in English....and if the starting price wasn't so ridiculous.

I could rig up one of these carts, I have a bunch of 16MB chips sitting around (think SoM, SD3, CT, Terranigma multicart!) I ripped apart my NP flash cart, so I got those 2x2MB chips. though if I were to sell a cart with a translated game on it the community would bitch at me so I won't do it.

Some games are sensitive to timing. However, it isn't impossible to make this happen. This reeks of "translated patched ROM" anyways. You have to factor in the company in question who made the original Jap version. Why in hell would Squaresoft make a German version of the game? They wouldn't.Hyos wrote:My guess is he is passing some cart off as the real deal, but how can he claim to have it run on a PAL Snes, even if it is a patched ROM? I am aware that there is a German translation, but can you just stick a NTSC ROM into a PAL cart and have it running perfectly?
