NSRT! Where?!
I can find many sites that redirect me to the NSRT main site, but apparently I cannot connect. I don't know if it is temporary or what, but I get an error page that say something about a debug.
I'm trying to dejap Fire Emblem 4, but I can't get myself a ROM that has a header so the patch with work! I started dejap'n games just a little while ago, and after the first one (Clock Tower - the First Fear), I suddenly realized how unfair it is that the they can hoarde all these games without translation and US release.
A crime, it really is =X.

Re: NSRT! Where?!
In the uncompressed ROM file, the header is a block of 512 bytes in front of the actual ROM data, so you could can add/remove the header simply by adding/removing these bytes with a hex editor.lvb2555 wrote:[...] but I can't get myself a ROM that has a header

It seems it was expired and renewed. Your ISP is probably not up to date.
The link of course is in my sig, but if your ISP is screwy, you'll have to edit your hosts file and add:
And hopefully in a day or two when your ISP updates, it won't matter.

Right, mind showing me how I get to edgeemu from the NSRT site? Doing the hosts editing gives me the same thing as visiting the IP address directly, which is the edgeemu site.
I see no mention of you or nsrt or any tools in the menus.
And apparantly the host isn't using apache's "subdomain redirects to a folder" trick, because 69.50.240.226/nsrt doesn't bring me anywhere nice. Just...
http://www.edgeemu.com/errors/404.html
Which is not TOTALLY my ISP's DNS being behind, because I had not seen that 404 before, so apparantly it's reported by the edgeemu site, but my ISP's still loading the main domain's. ... uh... redirect... thing... to it's... ad page?
My train of thought crashed halfway through typing that. 7 AM, I need to sleep.

And meh, screw legs.

You add
69.50.240.226 nsrt.edgeemu.com
To your hosts file, at this point you may need to reset your browser, then you navigate to http://nsrt.edgeemu.com, this is not complicated.

>_<;
Editing the hosts file overrides outside DNS, right?
So when I type in your address, I'll be redirected to that IP, right?
Then why can't I enter that IP directly?
I DO, and it brings me to the edgeemu site, and I can even visit links.
But I can't FIND NSRT on the page.
So I'll edit hosts. Done it before.
... Oh. What the fuck. Apparantly my ISP was still caching the site itself. I forgot they like to do that sort of stuff. Now I see the updated version, which is different than the one I see with the IP... ... ... ahhh. Actual subdomain.
Sweet, I learned.
Why do you all always make me learn the hard way? T_T

IPs by themselves mean nothing with virtual hosts.

People should learn the hard way for two reasons -Rydian wrote:Why do you all always make me learn the hard way? T_T
First, if you learn something by your own efforts, you're more likely to appreciate and remember it.
Second, if you learn by yourself once, maybe you'll continue to do so.
For the record, Google and Wikipedia should become your friends. When their answers aren't sufficient, feel free to ask specific questions.
If you DO wing a question or comment off the top of your head, don't be too offended if someone else outs it as completely retarded. It happens to all of us every once in a while.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.
I DID ask questions.
I DO ask questions.
And 'yall are total asses about it when I don't know what I'm talking about. Does he (death) honestly think everybody on a computer knows what I just learned? I certainly hope not, for his sake.

The complaint isn't that you're asking, it's that you seem to be asking without looking for the answer on your own beforehand. I also don't think I'm being antagonistic enough to warrant being called an ass.
Also, the "obvious" part wasn't the specifics of virtual hosts and how webservers respond to HTTP requests; it was that you were ignoring instructions on how to proceed because you thought your own way was better, and then complaining about the results when it didn't work.
Your ISP caching the site had nothing to do with the issue. Look up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_hosting for an explanation on why just typing the IP into the address bar didn't work.

The point being though, just follow instructions.Rydian wrote:Deathlike: Pull your head out of your ass, this isn't obvious.
If it was as easy as just typing an IP into your web browser, I would've just said to do that, right?

i have this issue. i tried many things and spoke to my ISP as well. nothing works.
adding 69.50.240.226 nsrt.edgeemu.com to my host file does not change what site i am directed to nor does emptying my cache.
it has been like this for the past 3 or so days...
