Cheat Finder question

Post by kevman »

I was looking at the cheat finding tutorial http://snescentral.edgeemu.com/emulatio ... index.html to see if I could learn anything new about cheat searching in ZSNES.

If you read the tutorial closely, though, it says something that's confusing to me. The writer says that he started the search with Cecil. Let's say his number is 1. He then switched the character to Kain, 2. So, he did a "!=" search, which is clearly right.

Then he switched back to Cecil, and did a "=" search.

Question is: Is this correct? Does "Old value" mean PREVIOUS value, or ORIGINAL value? If it means ORIGINAL value, then he did his search right.

Or am I just confused?

I believe old value means previous value. That's the way I've always used the cheat searcher, and it's worked as I expected.

It certainly sounds like you are describing a typo. The comparison is always between the current value and the value that existed during the last previous search.
