Internet Explorer 7 - Quickly removing restricted web sites?

Post by franpa »

Is there a way to quickly remove websites in the "restricted sites" zone? at the moment im going through one at a time and wish to get rid of the lot. i believe the huge amount Spybot SnD has implanted there as part of immunization, has f*cked up a part of my virus scanner.

I'm always doubtfull of installing a new Internet explorer. 7 wasn't really better than FireFox or Seamonkey.

I do not use IE, I use Firefox. I am after a way to de-immunize my machine so that a part of my my 'Virus Scanner' will function again.

restricted websites don't sound like they'd cause any problems.

i've also never had issues with spybot interfering with my virus scanner.

Seamonkey for the win.

Pity they can't still use the Mozilla name. That fire-breathing lizard was way more badass than a brine shrimp.

I use both AVG and SpyBot, and I've never had an issue. Unless you are gonig 100% of the time through Warez sites, they really don't interfere with anything. Sounds to me more like restrictions are due to a censor.

thanks, just delete the zonemap and the zone tree and IE will recreate them. now the list is empty ! (which is good.)

I solved/confirmed the issue!!! the immunization part that Spybot SnD does, screws up a part of Trend Micro Internet Security :) I also found out on closer inspection, there is a 'Undo' function in Spybot SnD's Immunization (is it a new thing since 1.4x?).

the part i spoke of in IE was not the culprit, im not sure what the culprit was, but that is not the only place that such stuff is stored because Spybot was still reporting my computer as Immunized.

why run two internet protection programs simultaneously? it's redundant, and makes sense that they would fight with each other.

very different from the spybot / anti-virus conflict you said it was.

Trend Micro Protects against both spyware and viruses but primarily protects against viruses. part of it is to detect changes in your registry and stuff that could be hazardous to your computers well being and it seems that this chokes on the 8,000+ things spybot add's to firefox and another 8,000+ things to IE.

don't blame me for Trend Micro not designing there program to handle massive amounts of changes o_O

spwayware scanning was introduced in TMIS 2007 and support is continued in the 2008 series. all previous series only scanned for viruses.

but you have two programs installed that do the same thing. it's redundant, and given the nature of the programs, natural that they hate each other.

why can't you understand that?

you didn't post any new information. you have TWO spyware programs installed.

granted, lavasoft and spybot never fought with each other for me, but trend micro entrenches itself, if i'm not mistaken.

They don't hate each other and they don't conflict. Trend Micro only fails due to the number of changes in parts of Internet Explorer (and possibly Firefox). I would say the problem is in IE and Fx and Trend Micro's ability to interact with each other..

...which would mean that Trend Micro is essentially hopelessly broken.

so, they don't hate each other, but trend micro doesn't work because of what spybot does to your browsers?

are you stupid?
