Windows XP Open dialog size

Post by ShadowFX »

I figured I try this board with this question.
Basicly, I would like to have the Open dialog that many program use (i.e. Winamp), to have a fixed size. Each time I reopen these programs the Open dialog reverts back to its original (small) size.

Anyone have an idea how to set it to a certain size so that it stays that way?

Thanks.

I find I can't even normally resize any dialog box in Winamp

If a program (*.exe) uses dialog boxes included as resources, you could use XN Resource Editor.

If you're talking about "the standard" file open dialog box, then I'm afraid you're out of luck. Windows will show that box wherever and however it pleases, even worse on a multi-monitor setup.

It's possible to change the window's parameters after it has appeared on the screen.
The problem is that you'd have to change the source and add the necessary code.

So does this mean it cannot be done system wide?

erm, open the "open file" dialog then resize it. hold down CTRL then click the upper-right X to save the size of the window. (works in winamp)

edit: scratch that.
