Curse those freakin h246(Mpeg 4) files!

Post by neo_bahamut1985 »

Okay, I've tried many media players; WMP11, Zoom Player, WMP Classic (newest version, which says it "can play mp4 files"..pure bullcrap), DivX player, Elecard MPEG Player, etc and no matter what I play this file on, there is sound but no video. What the crap?! Who encodes videos with this retarded, incompatible codec anyways? Are there players that can get both sound and video or am I SOL?

You need to find the correct codec which is very much obtainable if you google correctly. It is h.264, not whatever you wrote in the title.

Besides, compression is everything in regards to video.

Here's a google link for starters.

GAH, Not that spawn of EVIL. If your looking for a Codec Pack try CCCP, it covers the most common codecs and does not try to spam the PC with every codec there is.

I second CCCP. Kicks the ass of every codec pack out there, and includes FFDShow.

CoreAVC, even though it's not free, is my recommendation.

vlc

or mpc with cccp (since mpc does next to nothing without a codec pack)

or neobahamut with a brain

or even quicktime, as mp4 is a video format for the ipod

FFDSHOW is why CCCP works great.

So you're saying a golden (FFDShow) turd (a codec pack) is great because it has gold? No offense to CCCP, but I'm trying to make a point.

The K-lite standard codec pack comes with FFDSHOW and really doesn't install all that much else. The full version has a bunch unnecessary extras though.

Besides that, during installation, almost everything is OPTIONAL. You can install as little or as much as you want. I don't see how it's better or worse than any other codec pack.

FFDSHOW of course is the winner in K-lite as well, so.. meh.

I say K-Lite because you never again have to worry about ANYTHING after you install it.

Oh, and DivX has spyware in it, lolzors.

K-Lite includes ffdshow and Haali Splitter.

So... it's basically the same thing. It just includes every other codec under the sun, and, as Nightcrawler pointed out, you can opt out of installing them.

I still don't trust K-Lite, Additionally CCCP has FFDShow and Haali Splitter as well.

K-Lite is safe. It does not install spyware of any kind.

I'm using it right now(So to speak.).

Yeah K-lite is fine. This entire discussion is silly. We're all talking about more or less the same thing under different names.
