I usually use nano since I'm usually in linux doing some quick edit ot a config file or program when text editing. For larger projects I use Kate. In windows it's Notepad and in DOS it's edit.com. If I had a Mac, I'd probably use TextEdit. For word processing I like Abiword or Openoffice.
Notepad++. Hits the best balance of resource usage and features of every alternative I tried. It doesn't require installation. And of course, I also think it's just a good program overall that I like using.

When my n64 controller wasn't working (or i couldn't find it)... i used to make a contoller with a pullup resistor on the data line and tapping key conected to the gnd.
It was tricky at first, but in the end i had VERY quick fingers.
Hardware means nothing if you don't have good software.

Ooh, I get it. Yeah, doing stupid shit like showcasing one's password without proper asterisk conversion is asking for trouble.
