Screen Goes Black After A While

Post by jabbapop »

ok like here's the deal. i'm on a radeon 9800 drivers 6.3, have directx9.0c. running zsnes 1.4.2 in 768x672 DR Windowed mode. nothing is checked in video options except vsync. disable screensaver is checked udner the zsnes option. ok. i get any game to work fine, but sometimes, maybe like 10 minuets into playing, the whole screen (that is, not just the window, the ENTIRE screen) goes black, and i can see my mouse pointer turn with the hour glass. and like, i can still hear the sound going on, but to get out of black i'll have to fiddle around, press escape, and then the game comes back. this can't be the screensaver, i have it disabled also under the display control panel. anyone hear of this?

It could be the Monitor Power Saving mode kicking in.. I believe it will be addressed in a future version. Disable the monitor power saving mode manually as well.

Thanks, I'm glad it's a known issue since I usually forget beforehand. ^^; (What a silly DirectPlay misfeature!)

Yeah, that's happened to me too. Silly Windows thinking a gamepad is not input. I had to turn off the power saving feature to fix it.

This should have been fixed in windows long ago? It's still happening?

Yup, unless it was fixed (again?) in the past month or so.

It's probabaly not the monitor power saving mode, probably the system trying to go into sleep mode or something.
