Nope! You can see the monsters in the dungeons and run away. In the map it is the same as shadow of monsters appear like The Legend of Zelda: The adventure of Link.
However, to prevent skipping too many fights, every so often an overworld blob will rush at you too quickly to avoid it (unless you're in whatitsname mode riding whatchamacallit green-white wimpy dog-rabbit hybrid whose name I forgot due to who the hell would call THAT Noishe anyway)

(it's an RPG anyway, hello experience, levels and stats)
Older Ys games are also very good, if only to realise how Adol is the keepsake of pretty much every godly-technology-yet-extinct civilisations, and of course all the girls run after him.
Good thing he's not as good as Dogi when it comes to walls, else he'd be the fucking juggernaut.

There was a PC version? More info please.

Would Zelda II count? I mean it plays alot like Ys 6, all it lacks is the stats.

J-only. Basically a straight port, as I understand things, making it the only Japanese PC game that DOESN'T have H content.

Zelda 2 has stats.... barely.

It's right on the bottom end of what I consider RP, with all other Zeldas off in action-adventure land.

I count those as levels, but I guess it's a matter of taste. You're right though - it just barely qualifies..

I found Brainlord for the SNES to be a quite enjoyable game, and if memory serves me, it doesn't have random battles.

Final Fantasy Adventure for the SNES technically doesn't have random battles (but it does have unavoidable non-boss battles). And I suppose you could call it a decent/good game...barely(IMO).

if the dark side ending only involves your guys standing in a camp or something like that, the light side one won't be better.

oh....

and play MASS EFFECT.

i am in love with this game. driving is annoying, but you get used to it enough. everything else is pure gold, though.

I think that's FF Mystic Quest...

KOTOR 2 has crappy endings for either side , overall KOTOR was better because it was a lil more simple but better story and ending I think

They cut so much content in both of em it's not even funny

that's because KOTOR 2 isn't the sequal to KOTOR, Jade Empire is. If you'll look closely KOTOR 2 wasn't even made by the same people.

right....

you don't even have to look hard. bioware let them make kotor 2 with their blessing, since obsidian is mostly made up of black isle people.

it was still a disappointment, though.

Mass Effect is pure gold. a few hiccups in gameplay, and i hear the main quest is short, but the experience is simply amazing.

Yeah, you're right

For some reason I keep calling it "Final Fantasy Adventure", which is a gameboy game I've got.
That game also doesn't have random battles so you can add that to the list I suppose.

Oh and E.V.O: Search for Eden for the SNES is a pretty good RPG with no random battles.

Well both games sent Reven and Exile into this unknown space

Hopefully , KOTOR 3 atleast fills in some gaps , but thats if they live up to their promise that a new KOTOR should surface late this year or early 08

Both games were already diff storylines , so in speculation , it would be best if they made 3 tie in for an actual sequal to both

I wont hold my breath , but if a 3rd comes along... I'm sure I'll grab a copy

So far Valkyrie Profile doesn't seem to have any random battles. I'm playing the PSP remake but I doubt they changed anything as far as battles go.

Valkyrie Profile 2 - Silmeria also has no random battles. You can trap almost all enemies in crystals and use them as makeshift platforms.
