Perfect graphics emulation
What do you guys think about THIS!
The guy ripped out the NES video card and made an ISA card out of it, stuck it in the PC and fed the output to the TV. That's incredible! That's one way to get PERFECT graphics emulation from your NES emulator! The PC controlled the actual NES video card.

I'd say this is not emulation anymore, if you use the original hardware.
Very impressive work...

Well for the SNES, the future of graphics emulation will probably be anomie's renderer.
May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

Wow. Nice.
I've always wished for a video card that could mimic video output for various consoles including NES and SNES. This seems to do more than just output.

I'm not familiar with it. Details? :0Nach wrote:Well for the SNES, the future of graphics emulation will probably be anomie's renderer.

Damn, that's awesome. I wish I could do that. Too bad motherboards don't feature ISA anymore, though. But then again, we gotta move on sometime
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Quite impressive.
And I'd like to add that it doesn't look as "easy!" to me as he claims...

You still have to emulate the CPU and Sound hardware along with the other minor hardware like DMA etc.. It's still emulation to a large degree. Maybe if he slaps the NES sound chip/card on the ISA bus and maybe a CPU card, NOW we're talking no more emulation! I bet that would look so cool. It's practically a real NES but has the advantage of running off ROMS instead of cartridges AND you have flexibility of adding features via software because you can manipulate the hardware however you'd like. And perfect TV out as well!
Illegal Eage:
I agree. I'm an engineer and I still think what he did would take a good deal of time and not be so 'easy' that everyone could do it. I don't even know how the ISA bus works, I don't quite understand the 'wait state' he was talking about, but that's probably because I don't know the NES hardware a fraction as well as he seems to! I I'd have to do alot of research before I could even START on that project.
'Easy'.. bah!

He's the same guy who's developing Grand Theftendo. He seems to have messing with the nes enough to do some pretty cool stuff. Maybe he'll be able to do it after all.
What?

Have you guys checked out the other projects he's done? He made his own freaking development station for the NES!!! Amazing. He's an NES freak. Why isn't this guy working on an emulator? He probably knows more about the NES than most other people on this planet.
He wrote mapper documents, made an MMC3 flash cartridge, big screen output for Gameboy. Unbelievable.
He also wrote some sort of high level language compiler for his Grandtheftendo game. He claims to be releasing all his tools when he finished.
His dedication to the NES is truely impressive. He must not have a girlfriend.

Or a very displeased one if she isn't into emulation.Nightcrawler wrote:Have you guys checked out the other projects he's done? He made his own freaking development station for the NES!!! Amazing.
