Bahamut Lagoon Graphical Glitch?

Post by Esturk »

I've been playing Bahamut Lagoon on Zsnes recently, using DeJap's latest patch. Anyways, sometimes during battle, the graphics will get all messed up. Reloading the ROM fixes the problem until it happens again. It seems to happen randomly, but has been happening more often.

Here's my ROM info and a screenshot of what it looks like. I'm also using the Feb 10th WIP. This bug doesn't seem to occur in 1.42 as far as I've seen.

I thought that the patch was responsable for some glitches, are you using the latest patch? also, don't change Byuu's or the ship's name.

Are you using the copier or emulator patch?

I'm using the emulator patch. And I did rename Byuu but not the ship.

I've never seen this kind of glitching in Bahamut Lagoon before. are you sure the rom image isn't hax0red?
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

I'm pretty sure it's not hacked. I patch all roms myself.

The ROM is fine, try the copier patch.

Hrm, can you provide a SRAM of somewhere near that or maybe even a savestate, using the unpatched rom to see if it still happens?

Alright pagefault, I'll try playing it without the patch and see if it happens again.

I found this on my HD:

Dated 2002, the image is. So its OLD.

The ROM is OK... And I have no idea what triggers it. Sorry, its been years.

Ah yes, that's it kevman.

Well I played through a level of Granbelos Fortress where it has happened to me before and it didn't happen.:p This time I played with the Japanese ROM. Like I said, it doesn't always happen every battle. Sometime it doesn't happen for a few battles. I think it may be triggered my something like kevman said, but damned if I know what it is!

I can tell you that it happened a LOT on Persona's Ship in Chapter 12 - The Spy Operation. Maybe 7 or 8 times before I finished the battle. That is where I took the screenshot. Unfortunately I am now saved in Chapter 13, and I cannot do the Chapter 12 battle again.

Next time it occurs, I'll make a save-state immediately and post it.

I've got a save-state of the glitching in action. The only problem is that there's nowhere to upload it here on the board.

I remember running into this on rare occasion when me and DF worked on BL, but I don't remember if it was related to the patch or not. I do think it's related to opening/closing the main menu (during map stuff) faster than should be allowed.

Yeah, it does seem to happen very occasionally Tomato. I went through 2 chapters without it happening once.

Really? That's more often than I encountered it, I had to play through the game A LOT, upwards of 10 times, and I maybe ran into it once every few games on average.

There was a certain level, near the middle of the game, I think one that was in a cave, that glitches a lot. I think on one playthrough I got the glitch about 3 times. I was using the emulator patch, and apparently I hardpatched it somewhere along the way.
Everything I say is a lie.

I also remember experiencing this a LOT (like 15 times per map). But that's only because I rewinded to before the bug and moved elsewhere to 'cancel' the bug.
It's like the 'luck manipulation' in re-records. Slight changes in input make the emulation go different ways.

But it usually came back after a few turns. This information might help...
