Jerky sound in linux

Post by belegdol »

Hi. Since I've upgraded my computer and started to use onboard AC97 soundcard (namely Realtek ALC850) sound in ZSNES has started to be very jerky, even worse than on my old SB128PCI. I'm using alsa. The problem concerns also meka, VisualBoy Advance and Gens. OTOH, xmame, zinc, m1 and almost any other application works fine. I am using alsa/dmix and Fedora Core 4, but the problem existed also in FC3 and MAndrake 10.1 . What can be wrong? Greets.

P. S.
Don't tell me that this sound chip sucks, it works well eough in almost all applications ;)

Hmm, exportind SDL_AUDIODRIVER=dsp has solved the problem. Any smarter solutions?
