My complete and utter waste of time.

Post by SquareHead »

I had to do this. Going 2+ years back in posts in the bug reports/feature requests forum had so much gold. Anyhow this is my waste of time after having a little too much of it at work.

Top 10 (insert adjective here) requests in the bug reports/feature requests forum. Put in random order.

Please add (new features) to old versions.
Please make a .ZMV player.
Please tell me where to get games.
Please make zsnes for (any non x86 system)
Is it possible to make an online high score database for zsnes?
Please make zsnes play (non snes) games.
Please add (feature that is already in zsnes).
Please fix (special chip game) it don't work!
Please make zsnes let you press more than 3 keys at the same time.
Please add super gameboy support in zsnes.

There were probably better ones out there, but after about 12 pages of the same questions being asked and asked and asked this project stopped being funny and I had to quit.

"Two friends and me can't connect on three computers to play Secret of Mana, what are we doing wrong?"

"Hey, I can't use Blitz in FFVI!"

"Hey, Final Fantasy VI is my FAVORITE GAME EVAR, I have played it A LOT OF TIMES! But in Zsnes it reloads the intro movie, even when I press START."
*Sometimes I edit my posts just to correct mistakes.

That's a classic.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

Awesome, this needs like a sticky.

Maybe I'll fix that.
Please add (new features) to old versions.
Especially netplay. WTF people.
Please make a .ZMV player.
Sure, just like there will be an SMV player.
Please tell me where to get games.
Google failed you... or
You failed Google.
Please make zsnes for (any non x86 system)
Intelligence fails you AND
You failed Intelligence.
Is it possible to make an online high score database for zsnes?
How about a database for useless info? I'm sure someone will care.
Please make zsnes play (non snes) games.
Just like I can stuff that Genesis game into my SNES.
Please add (feature that is already in zsnes).
Look hard enough and ye shall find gold on the other side of the rainbow.. or just lots of bricks.
Please fix (special chip game) it don't work!
As if ZSNES were the source of special chip info... which it is not.
Please make zsnes let you press more than 3 keys at the same time.
As if ZSNES were responsible for global warming...
Please add super gameboy support in zsnes.
Obviously GBA emus are overrated because of this.

It needs a sticky! :D

Even if there were such a database, it'd be difficult to get uncheated highscores. And it'd depress most people (as in HHGttG).

Don't forget the request for a built-in mp3 player:

http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=151

This was the first thread created in the Development forum, I might add.

Just like I can stuff that Genesis game into my SNES.
But I can stuff 20 NDS games into my SNES, why can't I do that in ZSNES?

And can you guys help me fix my SNES? It broke recently after I got my NDS, and now I can't play Super Metroid
May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

Lets not forget the "SuperFX games run too slow on my POS PC. Can you add 3D accelerator support?"

One guy suggested something like that on IRC. You would render the whole image using OpenGL (translating some of the internal rendering calls). Sure you can do it for speed reasons, but it would never be accurate.

Mind you, it'd still be cool if someone did it, just for kicks.

Then all the charm in those games would fade, with all the untextured surfaces and stuff. :P

Nah, you have to do it in Glide because we all know that a long dead proprietary graphics standard is superior for emulation.
