What's the fastest software decoder for VC-1 videos?
I'm looking for a VC-1 / WMV9 decoder that's extremely CPU-efficient in software mode (when not using DXVA). Something like a VC-1 version of CoreAVC (a great H.264 software decoder). The default Windows Media codecs are extremely slow. I've also tried ffdshow - it's noticeably faster but still not ...

Either way, I think you'd get more appreciation adding things to Mednafen (like the GUI), rather than using its PC-Engine core and claiming you have a brand new emulator. *snip* ROFL! @__ XD @Exophase: Stop attacking the newsposter and send all your hate mail to the real project owner (pault414). Ripping single CD-DA tracks with Foobar
Is this possible with the latest version of Foobar2000?
All I want to do is to rip a single track, but looks like foobar's GUI is lacking a much needed feature You can only rip complete CDs,not single tracks.

ATI Catalyst 9.6 gets 10 new extensions, full OpenGL 3.1 support is almost there (80%), GL geometry shaders and more: http://www.geeks3d.com/20090610/ati-catalyst-96-beta-a-stack-of-new-opengl-extensions/ Interestingly, it seems AMD is seriously updating the OpenGL part of Catalyst. There's something even better:
MicroCore Linux - extremely tiny: 7 MB (LOL)
Has all the features of Tiny Core Linux, minus the X desktop (CLI only)
The best distro for compiling stuff

1.1 Insanely difficult to set up volume levels ... and in some situations even audio output. WTF? I find the Gnome (Ubuntu) mixer easy to use and quite powerful. Even the commandline ALSA Mixer is user friendly. The mixer implementation in Windows 7 / Vista is what I really hate - downright terribl...

I've been curious about one thing. NTSC w/ Bilinear and TV Aspect looks like wider to me than for example Standard w/ TV Aspect. What you're actually doing is applying the aspect ratio correction twice :) You should UNCHECK the 'TV Aspect ratio' checkbox in the NTSC filter options, since the emulat...

Re: ubuntu 9.04 sound, or lack thereof
To be fair the author is also working to make sure the standard apps are updated and that there is support for a larger variety of software in the next puppy release, perhaps supporting .deb packages etc (meaning you could easily plug into debian and ubuntu repositories). Meet Puppy 5.0 (a.k.a. 'Up...
