Bandwidth people bandwidth! All those shaved bytes all add up into cost savings!
Well, in Google's case, I suppose saving 1KB per hit might be a valid excuse.

when coding something, you could sit there for days perfecting it and putting the correct spaces in it and making it look pretty and other bullshit. but it's a waste of time. I can sure as hell make sure I don't get any compiler warnings, which in turn means my code has a higher chance of working c...

I'm sorry, but who gives a fuck about valid code. as long as it works in ie then you're all good. who needs doctype anyways, I've never used it. waste of bandwidth, I bet not putting that bullshit there saves them millions of dollars a year. When I compile and attempt to use the exe, I get a big black box with a small square section at the bottom left with zsnes running. Any ideas? its better to think of a relative path as one that starts with the current working directory in transversing the file system. Microsoft throws a wrench into this with its drive letters, as there OS's lack the concept of a single root for file systems - so a file on a: will never be relative to a fi...

That controls the "Open Link in Ext. App" context menu option. It can be quite useful to be easily open the page in, say, Opera.
